4 Ideas to let your significant other know that your pregnant

So, you have peed on a stick and….. It’s positive!

Now you want to let your significant other know there is a bun in the oven. Exciting!

Of course, you can come out and say it directly to their face but what’s the fun in that? If you want to put a little thought, love, and humor in the announcement, I am all for it.

Why not make it a special occasion filled with mystery and fun. How about making this moment one that both of you will remember for a long time.

Now, you may be wondering how to do it. How are you going to surprise your life partner with such great news?

How do you let them know that for at least the next 18 years, you both will have something amazing to share?

Here are 5 ideas on how to do just that.

  1. Onesie

It is so easy to buy a onesie that says, “Hello, Dad”. But let’s go a step further. How about waiting until you and your partner are in a quiet place alone. You don’t know what their reaction will be and you may not want them to embarrass you with screams, hoops, and hollers of joy. That’s why I suggest being alone.

Maybe you want to bring up your relationship journey up to now. Just, reminisce. Get them all teary eyed and have them feeling really good about what life is like with you in it.

Tell them you have a great surprise for them and that it will be a funny or heartwarming gift so that they won’t suspect anything. Maybe have them hold out their hands.

Then let them have it!

I would suggest setting up some type of video recorder nearby or be ready to catch their reaction with a camera. You will want to have some kind of memorabilia to add to the baby book or photo album in the future.

  1. Gift box with the positive pregnancy test inside

Here’s a very simple and direct way to share the news.

Have the pregnancy test already in the gift box hidden somewhere close but somewhere you know they won’t easily happen upon.

You can also have some flower petals and chocolates available to spread around the box. Presentation is key.

Now, it’s time for bed. You have already gotten ready and they are still in the bathroom finishing up. Make sure the door is closed.

Put the gift box at the foot of the bed or on their pillow so they won’t overlook it when they come out. Go ahead and dress it up with the flower petals and chocolate. Romantic, right?

It is a special occasion and I’m convinced that it should feel like it.

Whatever you decide to say to them is completely up to you. I would suggest recording the occasion with video or take pictures.

  1. Guessing games or Clue games

If I would have had this idea years ago, I would have definitely done this. There are several games that you can purchase that will give hints that you are going to have a baby.

Some examples are Scrabble, Mad Gab, and Bingo.

Make a party out of it and surprise everyone!

There are also printables you can create for this special occasion, such as, word finds and crossword puzzles.

  1. Treasure hunt in the park

I love, love, love this idea! It can be as fun and goofy or as intimate and romantic as you want.

Suggest going out for a picnic at their favorite park. Have the clues already set up. I think it would be great to have the first clue start in the car.

Once you arrive, tell them that they are going on a treasure hunt. Be as vague as possible. Don’t give away the surprise.

Have them look under their seat for the first clue. It does not have to be typed up if you don’t want it to be. The piece of paper does not have to be cut out perfectly. Remember, the clues are not the important thing.

I suggest making it mildly difficult for them to find all the clues. Don’t have them climbing trees or swimming in ponds if they are not that type of person. Lol.

Once they get the last clue and are about to find the surprise, have your camera ready. You want to capture the absolute first second of surprise on their face.

What they find can be anything you want. It could be a toy stork with a baby doll wrapped in a satchel hanging from its beak. It could be a baby gift set with balloons saying congratulations. It could be a T-shirt under the sweater you are wearing with arrows pointing to your belly saying you found me.

Whatever you want to do is up to you. These are only ideas to get you where you want to be. Let your imagination run wild.
